Inscribed Trough Sink with an Octagonal Basin, Dated MCCXXI

The most literally documented piece in the collection: an octagonal basin recessed into a slab top flanked by dark inlaid panels carved with crosses, the front and side edges carved with a running Latin inscription reading in part antique marmoris varietate and the date MCCXXI. Small cross medallions repeat along the apron above two straight panelled legs. Photographed against black on a stone plinth.
